Both Dennis Andersson (8th) and Sam Masters (2nd) put themselves to within 10 rides of a 2013 Grand Prix place by achieving a top nine place in their world championship qualifying rounds.
Andersson was leading the opening race in Gustrow, Germany before Edward Kennett fell and in the re-start Andersson conceded the race win to Latvian Kjastas Poudzuks.
An overtake on Przemyslaw Pawlicki earned Andersson another second place before he collected his only heat victory to move on to seven points.
Despite a last place in his fourth ride his qualifying place didn't look in too much jeopardy because of that solid start to the meeting.
He sealed his place wth a closing second behind 2011 Pirate Renat Gafurov to conclude his night with 9 points to go into the next stage of the competition on June 30th.
Sam Masters proudly claimed a rostrum place under difficult racing conditions at Berwick who were staging their first FIM competition.
An inspired move to cover the track saved the meeting from being lost to the elements but the track needed to be attacked to get the best ride from it. In a processional, often free-wheeling opening heat Masters trailed home meeting winner Chris Harris for two points to begin his night's work.
A third place next time out behind the very impressive Danny King and consistent Ryan Fisher preceeded a strong finish for Masters who was unbeaten in his final three outings as his confidence grew.
His 12 points left him three shy of maximum man Harris and level with GB's other contender Danny King. The Birmingham rider effectively denied the chance to make it an outright Britain 1-2 when he had fallen in his contest with Harris, an incident from which thankfully both riders were able to walk away from.
Masters made a powerful start in the run-off to decide the actual podium places and King gave up the chase on the third lap leaving Masters to showboat his way to the silver medal.
Two other rounds were also held on Saturday and the full list of qualifiers that join those from the earlier round held in St Johann were:
All these riders will now go into one of three race-offs on June 30th (staging venues Vojens, Lonigo and Divisov) for the right to contest September's GP challenge in Gorican.
