Josh Grajczonek will visit a facial specialist today to hopefully determine the next phase of his recovery.
Grajczonek, 24, was injured in a crash last Friday whilst guesting for Birmingham in a league match at Coventry. He was hit from behind and propelled into the airfence, sustaining a fractured eye socket and a broken nose and will miss the Pirates scheduled home meeting against Wolverhampton tonight.
"The recovery is going OK and I am presently treating it all day every day with ice to help it all along. Once I see the specialist on Wednesday I should be in a better position to see when I can ride again.
"I'm pretty keen to get back on a bike as soon as I can and of course I would very much like to be given the clearance to be able to ride on Saturday as it is the Grand Prix qualifier meeting at Berwick.
"I've worked hard to earn the right to go into that meeting so of course I would love to ride it if possible but I will have to be sensible and listen to what the specialist has to say.
Fellow Pirates Przemyslaw Pawlicki and Maciej Janowski have also been drawn in Saturday's round at the Borders track whilst team-mate Vaclav Milik will be competing in another qualifier at Abensberg, Germany on Monday.
