NEXT ACTION - POOLE v KING'S LYNN - WEDNESDAY 12TH JULY
Speedway racing returns to Wimborne Road on Wednesday as does former world number 2 Krzysztof Kasprzak, as the VOLVO CARS POOLE PIRATES take on King's Lynn Stars in the SGB Premiership.
It is third versus fourth as Poole currently head the Norfolk side by 2 points although the Stars have a match in hand and with this being the first of the two contests on back to back days this week it becomes a must win for the Pirates, who fell victim to Belle Vue in their last appearance at Wimborne Road.
Since then the Pirates have made two redeclarations, the first seeing Krzysztof Kasprzak reinstated at number one after sustaining a shoulder injury in early May. The Pole, who endured an indifferent start to his season has vowed to rekindle the form that he has regularly shown as a Pirate and all eyes will be on him to lead by example. Just hours after Kasprzak was confirmed as a starter for Wednesday the Dorset side suffered another injury blow when Brady Kurtz suffered broken ribs on Sunday whilst riding in Poland, prompting Matt Ford to scour the availability list to find cover for the young Aussie. Kurtz has been temporary replaced by Richie Worrall, on a 28-day signing agreement and the 25 year old who rode for Elite league runners-up Belle Vue last season, will make his Pirates debut on Wednesday.
The arrival of King's Lynn means a first racing return to Wimborne Road for Chris Holder who was squeezed out of a Pirates' berth at the start of the season due to his loaded average. Along with fellow Australian Troy Batchelor and GB International Robert Lambert the Stars have a potent top three which is well supported by Dane Thomas Jorgensen and German Kai Huckenbeck. Completing the visitors seven will be Danny Ayres and the impressive Lewis Rose.
