MORRA BOOKED FOR PIRATES
Matt Ford has confirmed Swindon flier Nick Morris will guest in place of stricken Brady Kurtz for Monday’s SGB Premiership final first leg.
Morris has agreed to step into the breach after Kurtz suffered a broken collarbone in a horrifying crash with Somerset’s Jack Holder during heat four of Monday’s epic semi-final second leg against the Rebels.
Both Kurtz and Holder were taken to hospital and the Cowra man later confirmed the break. Holder, meanwhile, was due to have an MRI scan to assess the extent of his shoulder damage.
Speaking ahead of Monday’s mouth-watering first leg against King’s Lynn at Wimborne Road, Ford said: “I always feel confident about using Nick Morris and he has been a good friend to the club for many years. He is best friends with Darcy Ward and was best man at his wedding in February so Nick’s association with the Pirates goes back several years and he has always been around the club.
“I know Nick will give his all for the Pirates because he’ll want to do well for Darcy as well as the club itself.
“We’re very grateful to Nick for stepping in. He had a field day on our track earlier this year for Swindon and he only dropped one point. I know he has the ability to help us in our hour of need.”
