ELLIS FOR KURTZ IN AWAY LEG
Poole boss Matt Ford hopes that Adam Ellis can be the key to success when he stands in for injured Brady Kurtz on Wednesday night in the second leg of the Pirates play-off final at King's Lynn.
With the 'Volvo Cars' Poole Pirates eligible for a 5% uplift on Kurtz's 6.75 average for Monday's home leg, Ford turned to Nick Morris, who boasts a 6.91 October green sheet figure, to stand in at Poole and secured Morris' Swindon team-mate Adam Ellis (6.49) for the trip to Norfolk.
Ford added "In both riders I feel we have someone who can make a big impact. Obviously we would have preferred to battle out our 10th play-off final with our own riders but with Brady out with a broken collarbone I took a long hard look at the opportunities for guest riders and I feel that these two are probably the pick of the crop. As I said before, it is not going to be easy against King's Lynn and I think it is very important for us to build a decent lead on Monday to really help our cause, but, that said, this is aggregate speedway and we know only too well that anything can happen."
