FORD: 'BOMBER' BECOMES VICTIM OF AVERAGES
POOLE boss Matt Ford has explained his reasons for opting not to use fans’ favourite Chris Harris in his 2019 plans.
The Cornishman was a revelation during his late 2018 season spell at Wimborne Road, helping propel the club to a sensational 70th anniversary title triumph.
But with Ford having quickly committed to his 2019 one-to-seven, team building points did not allow him to sign Harris up for his first full season in the skull and crossbones race jacket.
Ford said: “We have to make changes every year because of team-building points and it’s almost inevitable that someone’s favourite has to leave because of that.
“It was a real shame that we couldn’t fit Chris in because he was sensational for us during the last few months of the season.
“But he is a victim of averages, sadly. He was nailed on to come back next season until the Rye House figures were expunged and taken off of his average.
“That took Chris from an average just above seven to an average of just below eight and with what I have already committed to, we couldn’t fit him in.
“But I hope our time with Chris will come again in the future.”
