KING'S LYNN 40 PIRATES 50

8th April 2019

The No1 Carpet Cleaning Pirates launched their season with a 10-point away win to put themselves in the driving seat for the first piece of silverware in 2019.

Inflicting defeat on the King's Lynn Stars in a closely contested meeting, the Pirates banked three 5-1's over the final four heats to give themselves a flattering win.

All 7 Pirates either won a race or were paid for a win as Poole fought themselves back after being behind for the first time when Lynn registercoled a heaat 10 5-1 through fast trapping Erik Riss and their number one Robert Lambert.

Two heats earlier Riss, with reserve Michael Palm-Toft his switched heat 8 partner, had levelled the preceedngs with the home side's first heat advantage, negating the Pirates heat two maximum from Busk Jakobsen and Covatti.

Sandwiched between the Stars' two heat maximums was a Poole 4-2 masterminded by Kurtz but largely due to Covatti's persistence that allowed him to punish Lewis Kerr for a fourth lap error.

Covatti was in amongst the points again when he partnered Nicolai Klindt home for a 5-1 in heat 12 as the Pirates regained control. A first win of the season for Jack Holder, taking the honours well in heat 13 protected the lead but Kurtz was unable to build on it. But Busk Jakobsen and Worrall assured Poole the win on the night with a 5-1 return in heat 14, the Pirates finishing the night with a re-run maximum from Kurtz and Holder after Riss had fallen first time of asking.
