Poole Coastal Aluminium Pirates claimed their 6th league title since the championship was decided under a play-off scheme 13 years ago. In between a busy schedule of an Elite league title defence in the championship play-offs the Poole Pirates have secured a world championship team medal after finishing second in the inaugural World Speedway League event in Zielona Gora on Saturday night.
The Elite League Play-off Grand Final 1st leg was abandoned due to rain after 12 heats at Coventry with Poole leading 37 points to 34 and with the result standing it means the Pirates will have a 3 point lead going into Monday night's second and concluding leg.
