Sweden's Andreas Jonsson won his second ever Nordic Grand Prix, his 9th title and his first one since 2011 when he claimed victory in an incident packed 10th round of the series - the first in the history of the Grand Prix that series leader Greg Hancock has missed.

Same week, different cast, better conditions, and all-round improved performance saw Poole avenge for their 9 point defeat sustained on Monday with a near-win of their own. Instead it It was the fourth time this season the Dorset side have drawn away and just as happened at Leicester they saw a victory denied them due to a calamitous last heat.

THE draw has been made for the Elite League Riders Championship which is being staged at King’s Lynn on Thursday September 25 (7.30pm).

RESULT: POOLE 48 WOLVERHAMPTON 42

Stand-in skipper Maciej Janowski produced a true captain's innings as the Pirates staged their own version of the "Great Escape" to claim a 48-42 win on the night against a gallant Wolverhampton side.
It took Poole 12 heats before they could edge ahead in this meeting on a night when the only home race winners were Janowski (4), reserve Kyle Newman (2) and the highly entertaining guest Lewis Bridger (2) whilst the visitors chose their cover riders most astutely with Chris Harris and Rory Schlein serving them well whilst Lasse Bjerre was supporting the scorers by making some jet-propelled starts to make things as difficult as possible for the Pirates who are still chasing that top spot in the league table.

Poole's first visit of the week to the home of the Lakeside Hammers saw them fail to gain any league points in a truncated, rain-affected meeting. The contest was abandoned after 10 heats with the 35-26 score in favour of the home side, standing.

SUNDAY'S scheduled World Speedway League meeting in Zielona Gora, Poland, has been postponed because of a waterlogged track.

The 9th round of this season's Grand Prix championship finished with the overall top three riders all nursing injuries and the current world number 3, Niels-Kristian Iversen also facing the prospect of an early end to his campaign.
